<image:title>Events - Burn the Script - Tara is currently living out what she calls her life’s joy (formerly known as “life’s work”) — and it’s twofold. First, she’s a mom to two incredible kids, a role she sees as both a huge responsibility and a powerful opportunity. She’s raising future changemakers in this beautiful, chaotic, wild world — and she’s here for it.</image:title>
<image:caption>Second, she supports leaders — and believes we’re all leaders — in deepening and expanding their impact through the company she founded, Conscious Revolution. Its purpose? To create alternative futures together. Its vision? A way of seeing, being, and doing that continuously emerges toward collective thriving. What better way to spend a lifetime? She sees how we spend our time as bridge-building; from what is, to what’s next. To do this work well, she brings a commitment to staying awake in every area of life, to equity and abundance, and to embracing both polish and mess. She believes being real matters more than being perfect. And sure, she’s got the credentials: 25 years as an HR, Organizational Development, and DEI leader. A degree in Human Resources. A master’s in Organizational Development & Leadership. All the certifications. But these days, she’s more interested in unlearning what doesn’t serve. Many “best practices” she’s seen have done more harm than good — and she’s all about reinvention. Because when humanity is centered, everything starts to make sense. And that’s exactly what she’s here to pursue.</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - Unlock Creativity - Christina is the creative director of The Love Lab Studio. As an artist, mama + teacher, she has created and taught in all kinds of spaces. Christina is deeply grateful for her many mentors and visionaries who continue to influence the studio, one in particular, Josephine Herrald Love, Detroit Arts leader – who told her that the job of an artist and teacher is to learn about children and that if all she ever did was make self-portraits with children over and over to learn about them, that would be a job well done.</image:title>
<image:caption>Christina makes her home in Maine with her daughter Melu, Pippy (the cat) and winter surfing, tech advisor husband Pete, but she was born in the midwest and lived all over the country growing up. She has taught pre-school children all the way up to college students at places like: University of Detroit School of Architecture and area schools, Kingswood Academy of Art, Interlochen Center for the Arts, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Rhode Island School of Design, Advent elementary School in Boston while doing other community based, public art and collaborative teaching gigs. Most recently, as Associate Professor of Art at Maine College of Art here in Portland. As an artist, she’s shown her work both nationally and internationally and has been fortunate enough to receive awards and grants to help make that possible.</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - Unlock Creativity - I am a Maine native in love with the outdoors. I draw endless inspiration from the beauty of my surroundings. With a BA in Studio Art and Economic Theory from Wheaton College, I've ventured through various career paths until turning my passion into a full-time profession in 2017. Now, I specialize in creating original canvas paintings and transform them into affordable print reproductions to suit diverse budgets. I firmly believe that art should be a daily luxury accessible to all. My mission is to create captivating, accessible artwork inspired by the people and landscapes that around me.</image:title>

<image:title>Events - The Art of Gathering and Entertaining - Mary spent the early years of her career working in Northern California’s wine industry, both in direct-to-consumer sales and production. During her winemaking era, she worked on wine harvests for prestigious wineries such as Hirsch, Cobb, Merry Edwards, and Kamen Estate. Looking for a way to apply her passion for food and gatherings to a new industry, she joined the Wholesale Sales team at Tomales Bay Foods, the wholesale and import arm of the world-famous Cowgirl Creamery. After moving back to New England, where she was born and raised, Mary received her master’s degree in Gastronomy from Boston University and ran the e-commerce arm of Formaggio Kitchen in Cambridge for several years. A love for working directly with customers led her to ask for shifts working on the cheese counter. There, her plans for opening her own cheese shop began to take shape. In 2018, she and her husband, Will Sissle, launched The Cheese Shop of Portland.</image:title>

<image:title>Events - The Roux Institute at Northeastern University x held Entrepreneurship Bootcamp - Lisa Jones is the principal and founder of the proprietary booking engine Worldwide Group Travel & Events, and the innovator behind Jamaica Fit Trip, Black Travel Maine, Black Travel Marketing, and Leisure Group Tech. Her journey in the travel industry began with humble origins at American Airlines, later transitioning to a robust 18-year tenure at LibGo Travel, where she held numerous managerial positions and earned their prestigious President’s Award.</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2020, Lisa relocated from Long Island, New York, to Maine, amidst the global challenges of COVID-19 and personal upheavals, including a divorce after 16 years of marriage. Invited by a friend, she was immediately struck by the state's stunning landscapes and the genuine warmth of its community. This profound connection inspired her to establish Black Travel Maine, Black Travel Marketing, and Leisure Group Tech, marking a significant pivot in her career towards fostering tourism and technology-based solutions in her new home. Lisa has collaborated with celebrities, major television networks, and some of New York City’s top radio stations throughout her career. Her work has been featured in publications like Black Enterprise and Contemporary Bride, and on television segments such as Good Day New York. Her commitment extends beyond professional achievements; as a former member of PayPal’s government relations lobbying team, she contributed to critical discussions on digital marketing and internet business legislation in Washington, DC. Lisa’s extensive experience and innovative approach make her a respected voice in the travel industry. She continually pushes the boundaries of what is possible in travel and event planning.</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - The Roux Institute at Northeastern University x held Entrepreneurship Bootcamp - Kathy Palmer is the owner and President of The Fish & Bone, an independent pet supply store. A degree in philosophy did not open many professional doors in the late 80s and early 90s. But combined with years in the early farm-to-table restaurant industry, including a successful launch of her own - it formed a great base for the creative problem-solving needed for small business entrepreneurship. Since 2000, Kathy has been translating her love for animals, indie business, and food into a vibrant pet supply company based in Portland, with a second location on Newbury Street in Boston.</image:title>

<image:title>Events - The Roux Institute at Northeastern University x held Entrepreneurship Bootcamp - Terra Dunham has been a New Englander in spirit since her childhood family vacations, which introduced her to the region’s crisp air, abundant nature, and kind, hardworking people. In the summer of 2023, she moved to Maine from Florida after stints in Boston and Denver to continue her entrepreneurial journey in a place she knew she would love. Terra grew up with an entrepreneurial father and always knew that she’d follow in his footsteps.</image:title>
<image:caption>In 2019, while working at a tech startup in Denver, Terra was inspired by a business idea, so she quit her job, sold her house, and moved back to Florida to start Book + Bottle - a bookstore/wine bar/coffee shop. Within three years, she had the business self-sustaining enough that she was able to escape Florida and move “back home” to New England, where she’s currently working as an entrepreneurship program manager at Northeastern University’s Roux Institute while she ponders her next entrepreneurial endeavor.</image:caption>

<image:title>Events - Convos & Candy - Let’s Play! - Born in Canada, Jess embodies the Canadian approach to life with sensibility and a sense of humor. This attitude has helped her build a private and group Pilates business, starting in Washington, DC, New York City, Boston, and now Portland, Maine. In her movement classes, she creates a fun and supportive experience, combining compassion and spiritual practices with the latest in anatomy and biomechanics to reveal her students’ highest potential.</image:title>
<image:caption>Jess is also a ceramic artist. Years of improv comedy prepared her for a medium that thrills her just as equally: ceramics. All her attention is needed on stage to stay close to what is unfolding so that she can make in-the-moment decisions. Jess brings this influence to her art creations. Rather than getting stuck in thought (an uncomfortable place to be on and off stage), she remains with her breath and body, letting the forms of pinch pots, nerikomi bowls, and porcelain jewelry reveal themselves.</image:caption>
